Francoeur: I'm Headed To Texas
Mets outfielder Jeff Francoeur says he?s been traded to the Rangers, according to an Associated Press report.
The Rangers have been looking for a right-handed hitter to come off the bench for the final month of the season and their expected postseason appearance. The deal had to be completed by Tuesday night in order for Francoeur to be eligible for the playoff roster.
The teams have yet to officially announce the trade, but the strong-armed Francoeur said after a loss to Atlanta that he?s headed to the Rangers.
Rangers Interested In Francoeur
Jeff Francoeur's time with the Mets might finally be coming to an end.
The Rangers are looking for a right-handed hitting outfielder and are considering Francoeur, according to two sources.
"His name has definitely been talked about," one source said.
Red Sox Trade Delcarmen To Rockies
The Red Sox have traded reliever Manny Delcarmen and cash to the Rockies for Single-A right-hander Chris Balcom-Miller.
Delcarmen was 3-2 with a 4.70 ERA, 32 strikeouts and 28 walks in 48 relief outings for Boston this season.
Colorado had been looking to bolster their bullpen as they try to remain in the NL playoff picture.
Delcarmen has been with Boston since he was drafted in 2000.
Boston Claim Napoli, Deal Unlikely
The Red Sox claimed Angels catcher/first baseman Mike Napoli off waivers late last week, according to a source.
However, the Boston Herald writes that a trade is unlikely.
The move was meant at least partly as a defensive one to keep Napoli to going to a team like the rival Rays.
According to the source, the Angels likely will pull Napoli back.
Angels Trading Napoli Next?
The Angels traded closer Brian Fuentes on Friday and catcher Mike Napoli might be next.
A major league source says that Napoli was claimed on trade waivers. The Angels are believed to have until Monday to work out a deal involving Napoli.
Dodgers 'Not Inclined To Move Anyone'
The chances of Manny Ramirez being traded to the White Sox now appear slim, as the Dodgers have played their way back into the playoff picture.
"(We're) not inclined to move anyone," Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti told USA TODAY, "so long as we have a chance."
"To play as well as we have," Dodgers manager Joe Torre said, "if this doesn't give us confidence, I don't know what the heck is going to do it."
Dodgers, White Sox Talk Manny Trade
The Chicago White Sox have talked to the Los Angeles Dodgers about a trade for Manny Ramirez even though he has yet to clear waivers, according to major-league sources.
The Dodgers, however, have spoken with at least one other team about Ramirez, and might not trade him if they continue to get back into the race, according to sources.
The White Sox could claim Ramirez in an attempt to negotiate exclusively with the Dodgers, and one source said on Tuesday that Chicago indeed planned to pursue such a strategy.
Ramirez wants a one-year contract extension to waive his no-trade clause, one source says.
